Training that builds trust and performance
Our philosophy at Artax Equine is built on a layered approach, combining real-world resilience with technical refinement.
Phase 1: Built in the bush
Ridden by expert bushmen and women, our horses spend extensive time in the rugged Snowy Mountains. They are conditioned through long days navigating rivers, creeks, bogs, steep climbs, descents, and rough ground. This unique foundation builds not just muscle and stamina, but also incredible mental grit and adaptability, preparing them for any challenge.
Phase 2: Refined for the arena & field
Once they’ve earned their mountain legs, we transition them into a comprehensive traditional training program. This is where we refine their natural athleticism into focused skill, ensuring they are balanced, responsive, and willing partners:
Groundwork: We establish clear communication, trust, and responsiveness from the ground, building a strong foundation for ridden work.
Arena work: Through consistent schooling, we refine technique, develop balance, and cultivate collection, preparing them for the precision required in show jumping and dressage.
Open country work: We reinforce adaptability and confidence in varied environments, crucial for the demands of eventing and cross-country riding.
The Artax Equine difference: A confident partner
This layered approach ensures every horse is not only athletically capable but emotionally prepared for the complexity of show jumping and eventing. We build horses that are forward-thinking, adaptable, and confident – ready for riders who demand more than just movement; they are ready for a true partnership built on trust and capability.
